Tips For Staying Productive And Positive
So I had a little brainstorming session because just under 2 weeks ago, I was still working at my corporate job. I was seen as a Key Worker, I even had a letter from the CEO that I had to keep with me whilst I travelled. BUT all of a sudden, they started cutting numbers and only kept 2 staff. My brainstorming took place on the photo above because that's how I looked as I travelled back and forth to work. Work uniform, Sparks Sunglasses and a facemask. Then this week, I'm home in shorts and t-shirt type outfits. I'm a very hard working person, so I'm of course making the most of this time, but I know it's hard for many people, so here are some ideas so you can stay positive and productive.
Stay positive - You may not have a tribe of people around you right now, but your vibe affects you and your nearest and dearest. Its so important to stay positive at all times. Your mind is a very powerful thing, I've read so much books, along with the Holy Bible that expresses how powerful the mind is. I'm currently reading The Battlefield Of The Mind by Joyce Meyer and I'm telling you, you need to have positive thoughts, speak positive affirmations and decreee and declare great things out of your mouth. There's power in your tongue, in fact it's sharper than a double edge sword. You also need to pray. God hears your prayers!
Keep communicating with family and friends - Social distancing and quarantining can be very lonely. I know someone that had to have 2 weeks of work because her dad came home sick, and although he wasnt diagnosed wth COVID-19, she had to self isolate. When asked how it was, she said "It is long and lonely!" That means we need to stay in regular cntact with our loved ones, we need to socialise by making use of social media and technology. We have so much devises and applications at our disposal, this is the time to use them. Speak to your parents, siblings, friends and catch up. Make sure they are coping and here's the best part, have a good laugh with each other. Try a 3-way video call if you haven't done that yet.
Eat healthily - Everyone is talking about how often they are opening the fridge in one day. It's becoming a bad habit and a result of cheer boredom. Instead of eating all day, have set meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) as were supposed to and a snack in between. I had a Nature Valley bar right before sitting down to write this. And then when I'm done, it's going to be time to make dinner. You could start planning what you want to eat from the day before, but one thing for sure is eating non stop if not good for you, your weight or your digestive system. There are loads of healthy, smoothie recipes that you can try on the https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3Ov0hYfX66dfAPpUlarAEC32u493PlqI" target="_blank">K London YouTube channel.
Use social media to benefit your business - If you are self-employed or have a small business, utilise the time that you have to engage with people - socialise. Keep posting, keep creating content (get creative), do throwbacks and keep the momentum going. If you can, post content daily (photos, videos and stories), interact with your potential customers, grow your followers and show yourself to be approachable. Post things to make people smile.
Start making plans for the future - A lot of plans got cancelled, birthdays, weddings, holidays, events and so much more literally had to be cancelled or post-poned. Its a good idea to start making plans for the future so you have something to look forward to. Maybe dont book anything until lockdown lift dates have been solidly set in place, but have an idea of what you want to do, especially if you have children - they will be so excited about finally being able to get out of the house. We have to have joy in this time, so we can look to a bright future and know that we will come out of it BETTER!
Stay entertained and active - I'm literally not joking when I tell you that the best way to stay active and entertained is to play some Soca music and have a Caribbean Carnival in your house. Yes I'm a Caribbean Girl, but Soca and Calypso are life, so it's in my blood but if Soca isnt for you, put your favourite music on and dance, sing, prance, revel and have a good time. Maybe dont turn it up tooooo loud because it might disturb your neighbours, but make sure you get up and dance. It's also really good exercise and will get your heart, lungs and muscles working. Staying in bed and sitting on the sofa all day isn't good so let's get up and have some fun.
Do some brain work - Read books, do puzzles and quizzes. Our brains are always working! For some of us, even whilst were sleeping, but with the sudden pause on life, our brains have gone from 9 - 5 work to almost nothing but Netflix binge sessions. That's not good, so even though I watch a few episodes of something I like on Netflix, I also close my laptop and learn Spanish (I want to be bilingual), I read, I write blogs, I work on the https://www.sparkssunglasses.co.uk" target="_blank">Sparks Sunglasses Collection and now I have to go to the post office and make up a big box because someone ordered 8 pairs in one go. See, I'm keeping my brain active. Don't let your brain shrivel up!
You can take a nap - Taking a nap is not against the law. Naps are actually really good for us and they are something that we dont normally get to do. If you didnt get a full 8 hours sleep, feel free to top up the amount of sleep you did get with a quick cat nap. It will make you feel refreshed and give you the energy to do some more of the things listed above.
I hope all of that really helps you and you stay uplifted and active. Trust me the active part really makes a difference.
Check out my latest YouTube video and dance with me. If one isn't enough, there's a whole playlist of how I celebrated my 30th birthday.
Be Inspired!
