We are sitting comfortably in the new year! Were on the 21st day of January and there's no turning back.
We have to do everything possible to make 2017 brilliant and move forward in all areas of our lives. With that being said, I thought I would start with FASHION. I LOVE FASHION. I love it for many reasons, but one thing for sure is that it is extremely powerful. Everyone's fashion and style is different but fashion is so powerful that a trend that started in one part of the world spreads to another part and takes over for a period of time.
Have you noticed how fashion focused people are??
People are so fashion focused that clothes, shoes, jewellery, accessories and let's not forget hair is at the centre of the worlds attention. It seems like it's more important today than it was in the 70's, 80's and the 90's. Clothes and shoes make statements and no one, especially not me is saying that its not nice to look good. I can guarantee that when you look good, you feel good, and we all want to feel good. Some also want to stand out, look rich and luxurious, but before I continue, I want to reassure you that in God's eyes the clothes you wear don't actually matter. Yes, be decent and respectful, BUT God says come as you are.
To emphasize that, when Jesus chose the first disciples - Simon, Andrew, James and John, He didn't look at what they were wearing and determine whether they looked stylish enough to share the gospel. Or whether they were sporting trendy shoes (Nikes or Jordans) in order to follow Him. Don't get me wrong, being presentable and respectfully dressed is crucial for circumstances like attending job interviews, special occasions, business events etc but the items you put together to make an outfit shouldn't take priority over the attitude you wear on your back and the mannerisms you carry on your shoulders. We need to wear love as a garment.
Let me teach you how to tie a tie so you can be appropriately dressed for special occasions.
Believe that what is on the inside, your heart and soul, and it being pure and beautiful is worth more than the gloss and glitter of your attire. James 2:2-4 proves that you shouldn't discriminate against and/or treat others according to the clothes they wear. God loves us all regardless of the name brand on the tag inside our t-shirt and jeans. 1 Samuel 16:7 But the Lord said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."
In a world where popping tags off expensive garments is the "it thing", I decided to take fashion to another level and bring it back to a place of meaning. I chose to make a t-shirt collection that's a part of the Sophisticated K Clothing line, but It's More Than Fashion. It's a t-shirt collection that promotes what and who you are confidently. It's full of t-shirts that encourage you to reach your goals, live your dreams, allow great things to exude from you and inspires success without making excuses. The collection is called Success Without Excuse because it has a bold word across the chest that encourages leaders and successful people. It states that you are POWERFUL, PROSPEROUS, MOTIVATED and so on. The t-shirts are available in different colours, just choose the word that describes you, promotes what you are and will lead you to Success Without Excuse. Below I'm wearing PROSPER SWE.
Then stand back and take in this message. "I want YOU to know that you are you, beautiful and special regardless of what you wear. If being nude wasn't illegal, you'd still be cherished by God, valuable to Him and definitely admired for who you are."
Be reassured by this verse. 1 Peter 3:3 - 4 Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight."
